Camarin de la Virgen
It was in the year 2015 when the construction of the new Camarin de la Virgen began. Located at the back of the church, right behind the main altar, the camarin, a Spanish word meaning "room", is a place intended to receive the devotees of La Purísima Concepción who want to pray and pay homage to the miraculous image. Done in a traditional Filipino architecture of an old bahay na bato (stone house), the camarin features an ambiance similar to that of aristocratic houses during the Spanish colonization. Adobe stone is used to clad the walls while authentic handmade cement tiles Machuca in vermillon red and yellow covers the floor. Capiz windows and solid Narra doors with sampaguita glass are sourced out from antique shops to complete the Filipino theme of the room. Callado or intricately carved wood panels adorn the clerestory and arches while two antique chandeliers are hanging from the high coffered ceiling. Old portraits of La Purísima Concepción adorn the wall. An urna in solid wood and solihiya accentuates the area where one can kiss the veil of the Virgin. Thousands of devotees visit the Camarin de la Virgen especially during the annual feast of La Purísima Concepción on February.
